We have a great team working at the Plymouth Sail loft. Learn a bit more about them here…
Jon Pegg

Jon grew up on the Yealm and has been sailing since he could pretty much walk. He trained in yacht and boatbuilding at college, this made him realise that there is no better place to be than on the water. Since then he has managed race boats, skippered charter AC boats, captained a 72' ketch, sold yachts, distributed marine deck hardware and rigging products for a top UK rigger.
Jon has been on the race scene for many years, in the past helming Farr 45’s, campaigning a J133 winning RORC overall, being tactician for one of the winning boats in the British team for the 2012 Commodores Cup and more recently winning Dartmouth Regatta 2016 on a Kerr 40.
Nowadays you will find Jon racing many types of boats from Ker 40’s, Ballard’s, Seascape 18’s and of course his beloved Devon Yawl.
With this rounded knowledge of anything boat-like he is a perfect fit to continue the exciting changes that can already be seen at Ullman Sails.
Catrina Clarke

Just the name is enough to make most one design sailors go weak at the knees and faint in reverence. However Ian is not involved in the company, Mrs. Southworth is our Managing Director.
Catrina has sailed since she was four and has the 1/4 tonner 'Whiskers' in Hamble which she sails with her husband.
No stranger to challenges, having built a multi-million pound business from scratch. An impressive organiser who brings high energy levels and pragmatism to the team.
Nathan Hanley

10 years ago a young Nathan started working for us with a great drive and ambition for sailing We knew he would fit into the team!
Over the years he has grown with the company and is now our production manager. He is running the team of sailmakers down in our Plymouth Loft. From a young age Nathan has always been found sailing on the River Tamar. He manages to get out of the river once in a while and is often sailing of Firebrand, and old classic S&S 43 custom.
Dan Crawford

Dan has been part of the team here for 7 years.
He started with us once he finished with university and wanted to move back to his home town, Plymouth. He is often found on the front of his Dad's Sunfast 32, or in the loft, repairing his sails. Dan is in charge of all the new sails which are built in Plymouth. He is always looking forward to building new and exciting sails.
Matthew Maddaford

Matthew spent many years racing against Nathan on the water down at Saltash Sailing Club.
He now races in the J24 class. He joined the sales team last year and is enjoying spending the time with our clients, as well as getting involved on the loft floor so he can understand how the sails are built.
Vicky

Vicky is the only one at Ullman Sails that doesn't sail!
But she did spend many years working for a cover maker. So when she moved down to Plymouth, she wanted to try something new whilst still using a lot of the skills she has learnt over the years. Now Vicky works in our service department, caring for our customer's sails.
Charlie

The newest member of the Ullman team in Plymouth.
Charlie has been sailing for over 10 years, completing a range of RYA courses including his Yachtmaster Offshore. Charlie has recently spent two years racing and cruising on super yachts around the world as a first mate. Before that he worked for some of the top offshore racing teams in the UK. Charlie always wanted to get in to sail making so he could further his knowledge and understanding of sails and the processes involved. He is a trainee sail maker in Plymouth and really enjoying his time here.
